Muse Is the New Front Door for Discovery, and It Picks Winners

    6 min read

Your next client may never Google you.

They will ask an AI assistant, "find me a Lagree studio near me," and it will not show them ten blue links. It picks one. With agentic tools like Meta's Muse, it can act on that recommendation: check your schedule, book the class, done.

That makes AEO (answer engine optimization) existential for studio owners in a way SEO never was. SEO was about being found. AEO is about being chosen.

What the assistant reads before it recommends you

Reviews, with a stricter bar than Google Maps. Observed thresholds run around 4.3 stars for ChatGPT-class assistants and 4.1 for Perplexity-type tools, versus roughly 3.5 to 4.0 on Maps. A 4.0-star studio that ranks fine on Google can be invisible to AI.

Everything beyond your website. Third-party directories, review platforms, forums, press and blog mentions, social sentiment. Assistants cross-reference all of it to decide whether you are trustworthy enough to cite. One inconsistent phone number or address can knock you out of the answer entirely.

Structured, parseable content. Schema markup, clear class schedules, pricing, location pages, and FAQ-style copy that matches how people actually ask questions. If the machine cannot read you, it cannot recommend you.

Why Muse specifically raises the stakes

Muse launched September 8, 2026 and is US-only right now, so this is early. It is agentic rather than a chatbot. It runs its own computer and browser, which means it can check a studio's schedule and book a class on the user's behalf.

Agents book the business they can read, verify, and transact with. Otherwise they book the competitor.

One note for multi-studio brands. With Muse US-only today, an international location like CORE40's Amsterdam studio will not benefit until Meta expands coverage. Prioritize your US footprint now.

What I would tell a studio owner to do this month

    1. Get your Google Business Profile complete and your rating above 4.3, with steady new reviews coming in.
    2. Make your name, address, phone, hours, and booking links identical everywhere you exist online.
    3. Add LocalBusiness schema and a real FAQ page answering "what is Lagree," "Lagree vs. Pilates," pricing, and first-timer questions, written the way your clients actually talk.
    4. Keep online booking simple and bot-readable. If an agent cannot complete a booking, you lose to one that can.

    One honest caveat

Muse is ten days old and Meta has not published how it ranks businesses, so nobody can sell you a guaranteed "rank #1 in Muse" playbook yet. The principles above are what the broader AI-assistant research supports, and they are the same fundamentals I built into the CORE40 AEO report.

The studios that come out ahead in the next era of discovery will not be the ones with the cleverest prompts. They will be the ones the machines can understand, verify, and trust.

See the AI for Lagree studios hub for how this gets built, or book a working session.
